This 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday 4 door hardtop was brought to us by a gentleman that wanted a brake conversion done on it. At first, he only wanted us to do the front brakes to save some money, but after the conversion, the back breaks eventually failed.
The owner brought the Oldsmobile back in and we discovered that the rear axle seals and bearings were shot, and there was gear oil all over the brakes and the slave cylinders had quit working.
We ended up cleaning the brakes, inserting new bearings and seals, new slave cylinders and bled the brakes on the Oldsmobile. Now the brake conversion is complete and working properly.
This model is from the second-generation of 88s produced by Oldsmobile from 1954-1956. The model year 1956 saw some new styling changes, including a split grill, redesigned taillights, and altered side chrome designs.
